NVIDIA's Kepler™-based GRID K1 and K2 boards are specifically designed to enable rich graphics in virtualized environments.

Maximum User Density
GRID boards have an optimized multi-GPU design that helps to maximize user density. The GRID K1 board features 4 GPUs and 16 GB of graphics memory. Combined with NVIDIA GRID™ vGPU™ technology, the GRID K1 supports up to 32 users on a single board.

Low-Latency Remote Display
NVIDIA's patented low-latency remote display technology greatly improves the user experience by reducing the lag that users feel when interacting with their virtual machine. With this technology, the virtual desktop screen is encoded and pushed directly to the remoting protocol.
Built into every Kepler GPU is a high-performance H.264 encoding engine capable of encoding simultaneous streams with superior quality. This provides a giant leap forward in cloud server efficiency by offloading the CPU from encoding functions and allowing the encode function to scale with the number of GPUs in a server.The GRID Accelerated Remoting technology is available in industry leading remote display protocols, such as Citrix HDX 3D Pro and VMware Horizon View.

VIRTUAL GPU TECHNOLOGY

NVIDIA GRID™ vGPU™ brings the full benefit of NVIDIA hardware-accelerated graphics to virtualized solutions. This technology provides exceptional graphics performance for virtual desktops equivalent to local PCs when sharing a GPU among multiple users. GRID vGPU is the industry's most advanced technology for sharing true GPU hardware acceleration between multiple virtual desktops—without compromising the graphics experience. Application features and compatibility are exactly the same as they would be at the desk. With GRID vGPU technology, the graphics commands of each virtual machine are passed directly to the GPU, without translation by the hypervisor. This allows the GPU hardware to be time-sliced to deliver the ultimate in shared virtualized graphics performance.

 

 

vGPU Profiles mean customized, Dedicated Graphics Memory 
Take advantage of vGPU Manager to assign just the right amount of memory to meet the specific needs of each user. Every virtual desktop has dedicated graphics memory, just like they would at their desk, so they always have the resources they need to launch and use their applications. vGPU Manager enables up to eight users to share each physical GPU, assigning the graphics resources of the available GPUs to virtual machines in a balanced approach. Each NVIDIA GRID K1 card has up to four GPUs, allowing 32 users to share a single card.

The GRID K100 and K200 GPU profiles are designed for the lighter graphics workloads associated with the applications that knowledge workers and power users use most of their time. These include Windows 7 with Aero enabled, viewing rich web content such as Adobe Flash or HTML 5, or simply getting the full interactive experience of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word). NVIDIA GRID™ software brings the full benefit of NVIDIA hardware-accelerated graphics to virtualized solutions. Dedicated GPU, also known as GPU pass-through, utilizes this technology and provides a virtual machine access to a dedicated GPU and enables exceptional graphics performance to a virtual desktop equivalent to a local workstation.

NVIDIA GPU PASS-THROUGH TECHNOlOGY 
NVIDIA GPU pass-through technology lets you create a virtual workstation that gives users all the benefits of a dedicated graphics processor at their desk. By directly connecting a dedicated GPU to a virtual machine through the hypervisor, you can now allocate the full GPU and graphics memory capability to a single virtual machine without any resource compromise.

The use of the proven NVIDIA Graphics Driver in the virtual machine ensures 100% application compatibility with traditional non-virtualized workstation environments and the availability of the most recent NVIDIA supported OpenGL 4.4, DirectX 11 and CUDA® 6.0 versions.
